Our clan association celebrated its annual Chinese New Year with a reunion dinner that was graced by Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Manpower Mr Lee Yi Shyan . Welcomed by the warm reception by our members, Mr Lee delivered his speech as he stressed the importance of preserving Chinese culture and clan association plays a significant role in it. Our clan association's president, Mr See Yee Hoi, spoke about the issue of Chinese culture and emphasized the needs for smaller sized clan associations to network with one another in order to survive in today's modern society. He suggested that clan associations should organise more meaningful activities to attract younger generation to join as members.
As the guest-of-honour, Mr Lee bore witness to our clan association and lion dance troupe's new committee swearing-in ceremony for the term 2010/2011 . As part of our aim to preserve the traditional Chinese culture, such as our 90 year old troupe's lion dance, we marked the event with a symbolic eye-dotting of lions ceremony which was officiated by Mr Lee.
