Last December, our troupe was invited to perform for Peck San Theng's 140th anniversary held at Singapore Expo. As one of its sixteen member clan associations, our clan association is honoured to be able to play a part in the welcoming of guests together with other member clan associations, Kong Chow Hui Koon and Sam Sui Clan Association, and also showcasing our lion dance on stage later that night. The event was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affair George Yeo, and attended by various Chinese officials from different provinces and clan association representatives.
Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng has played a crucial role in providing a final resting place for all Cantonese in its early days of establishment, and is still fulfilling its role in today's context. In addition, the federation continuously strives to stay in context by reaching out to the Bishan community and also recruit younger members through the formation of its youth group, comprising of volunteers from the sixteen clan association. All sixteen Cantonese clan associations take turns during each term to serve the federation in managing the committee and its crematorium for the past 140 years. Our clan association is currently performing the role of vice-president.
Here are some of the pictures from the event!
